Hello All:

It's time to share with you our trip to Upstate New York and Vermont. Let me say that of course we drove a rented 2008 Ford Tarus Limited with a Magellan GPS system included. After driving this Ford , I might have to reconsider buying a Ford. Also, Joyce had her Tom Tom GPS. Hence the battle of the GPS systems. Of course we got a late start.  Joyce tried to pack the house. As usual we carried our Automotive Cuisine Preparation System (crock pot and inverter) We dined on smoked chicken and precooked breakfast sausages and cold cuts. The drive was nothing special just NY state is very, very country.  Any time that there are 20 plus miles between exits on a major interstate, believe me, you are just about in the middle of nowhere.

Let's go Fishing

Stayed in Syracuse for the weekend looking for salmon fishing spots. Found Salmon River and the King Salmon were starting to run. The water was too low and warm.

 Let's go Camping !!!#*#@

Joyce said that she was going to start calling Daddy when I come up with an off the wall idea like going camping on the shores of Lake Ontario at a State Park camping area. I did get Joyce a tent that she  refused to sleep in and  we stayed in the car.  She is not a happy camper. We had a camp fire and everything. Joyce is not an eagle scout, but she can start a fire.

 Our Drive to Vermont

We left and drove to Burlington.  Joyce was not happy with TomTom because she programmed it to take us on a route without tolls. There was about a 26 mile difference  between the 2 GPS systems. We started seeing signs that we were not familiar with  a car over water. To our surprise we found that it was a ferry.  Joyce wanted to throw TomTom overboard.  As you can see, we took a ferry ride across Lake Champlain to Vermont.  By the way, we passed thru many small rural towns with lots of poor housing (weather worn, paint peeling, rotting and poorly patched housing).

Burlington, VT was surprising -- the food was good and it was a big town with a small town flavor. Didn't care for the maple syrup. The hotel gave us free breakfast every day made to order. Lots of fishing spots and lots of mom and pop marinas for boat rentals ran by little old ladies.

 Drive back to New York

We drove back to Pulaski, NY and the kings were a lot more active.  I didn’t catch any because I was fishing with wild discourteous New Yorkers. So I kept a low profile and watched and laughed as they fussed and cursed each other out.

Our little field trip thru Pennsylvania on the way back home

Driving News Flash !!!!

On our trip back we got lost in Pennsylvania in da hood.  We needed gas and got to a station and sat in the car until the rif raft moved away so I could gas up.  We sat there for a while playing inspirational music (“Kung Fu Fighting”) loud. I had to send Joyce outside to open up a can of whup*** on some of the patrons. She knows kung fu, but she got out of the car and did the “Good Foot”.  That did nothing for our cause.  Evidently, I have to be more specific in my instructions for our personal safety.  My training for her included having her watch the first season of “Kung Fu” and it looks  like we are going to have to incorporate some “Earnest T. Bass”  training strategies. You know that means we will have to start traveling with bricks. Does anyone know if bricks are banned from carryon luggage??
