Part I - Cortland / Ithaca New York
We some how ended up at Hope Lake Lodge in hills and mountains of Upstate New York right across the road from Greek Peak Ski Area. We did not ski it was cold enough but no snow. In a little sleepy town about halfway between Syracuse and Ithaca. Joyce found another gem of a place , modern rustic but clearly new and listed by Trip Advisor travel site as # 4 top conference hotels in the world with SPA for the Ladies?? Again Joyce got 2 bedroom (305A&B) 2 bath full kitchen dining room fire place balcony indoor water park for 7 days for what most people pay for 1 or 2 days -- oh but it didn't have a washer/dryer. Again Joyce managed to get a deal that we almost feel guilty about. We only stayed 4 days. It was a 5-6 hour drive mostly along the same route as out trip to Pulaski NY and Burlington VT.
For those non nature, none country and afraid of the dark people this is not the place for you. When you look at the window at night you see nothin but dark and red eyes looking back at you. We tried to walk around the Lake beside the lodge but Joyce said the back side was to close to the mountain tree line and a bear could come down a get us. Every sinse our little incident with the Grizzly... and this time I gave her a bigger stick. While I was fishing she was looking out for bears. I fount it interesting the she always managed to position herself so that I was between her and a bear if one came down from the trees. She has a history of running off from me when bears are involved she need Bear Therapy. For those people who are afraid of something or another you can sign up for my Fear Therapy with BBQ sessions. Good BBQ goes with everything.
The Lodge has completely enclosed water park complete with slides kiddy pool wave pool life guards outdoor heated pool.
We hope to get back, it was a little early in the season for fishing and tours but I added a list of things done and to do for our next trip back on CPL under state -- NY
We spent most of our time in Ithaca. Their city motto is "Ithaca is Gorges" referencing the fact that there are so many natural gorges and water falls in the area. Also this is the finger lakes region. Spent most of my time fishing Cayuga lake the deepest of the Finger Lakes.
Got to Cornell University it was built around Cascadia Falls we saw one of the falls on campus but didn't get there. Made it to the book store. Took some great pictures with the HD Panasonic Camcorder/Camera The picture of Taughnnock Falls is an example we have primarily been using the Cannon Camera but as you can see the Panasonic takes much superior/surreal photos. Every thing around here has Indian/Native American names that don't just roll off the lips I believe that the area was inhabited by the Iroquois.

Bring Good sturdy walking shoes/hiking shoes something that can handle muddy paths/trails and a good Bear stick !!!
They have a massive Wal Mart Super Center 3-4 miles from the Lodge. Strangely enough they don't sell souvenirs or post cards why folks may be getting epostcards since I got the Panasonic and new picture/postcard software. Guess what else you are getting for Xmas ( get us those underwear sizes and hat sizes no XXL's please Joyce she is working on her IPO and does not have time for moosee hunting.)
Out and About
